Overloaded

So. . . . . .I probably won't be on here alot this week. Not only do I work and have college, but my baking projects consist of a 3-D piano cake, a replica-of-a-wedding-cake anniversary cake, and an X-box shaped cake. And they're all due on Saturday.

Yeah, that happened.

I will, however, be posting pics of said cakes - both in progress and the final look.

Intro to Me: Part 2

Ok, I'm back. *Ugh* I am of the opinion that putting together a research paper with a bajillion citations is the absolute WORST part of college. I'd much rather write creatively. Or play the piano. Or decorate a cake. Or go horseback riding through crunchy leaves with the smell of wood smoke tickling your nose, the crisp fall air pinking your cheeks, and an azure sky stretching endlessly above you.

Yeah, that sounds nice. :) Definitely gotta put that on my schedule.

So. . . .the reason behind this blog. I had a friend ask me (we were talking about my baking business), "Hey, have you thought about starting a blog?" Well, yes, I had toyed with the idea. But just then, I didn't feel like I had the time to commit to writing a blog. I mean, people actually read these things!! You have to be interesting, funny, insightful, creative, random, and actually able to write! But I decided to give it a go. A rather daunting task at which I shall strive to excel.

And now back to the whole 'intro' thing. I was thinking about posting all kind of stuff about me, but that would be SO BORING. I mean, this blog will have things about me in it - the outline of the puzzle will fill in gradually as you learn about my life from future posts - but it's mostly about baking.

At least, I'll try to make it mostly about baking - but I don't have that many baking clients scheduled just yet. Let's see. . . .only 3 cakes in October. I have to fill the empty days up with something!

Here, I'll try to sum myself up in just a few words.

So now to the important stuff - - - BAKING!!!!

This is a picture of a wedding cake that I did about 2 weeks ago. First one ever. So not only serious pressure there, but it was for my boss. O.0 It had to be absolutely perfect.

Oh yeah. . . .and I had to deliver it by myself. The venue was supposed to be about 35 minutes away on twisty roads (according to Google) and the cake was precariously balanced in my tiny Mustang trunk along with 75 cupcakes. A nightmare for a hyperactive-and-prone-to-be-pessimistic imagination - which I happen to possess. And how must you drive when you have all these delicate items aboard? Not 'like a boss'. Like a grandma.

It took me about an hour of 'granny-driving' to get there, so even though I left early, I was late.

Set up, assembly, and decorating took about 2 1/2 hours (including icing all the cupcakes).

Personally, I don't think it turned out too bad.

And here are the cupcakes - I had to pipe hydrangea flowers all over each one. :) So much fun!!

And that's my intro. Very cliche, I know. But please be patient - once we get through the whole 'explaining what's what' phase, the interesting stuff can begin......

 .....and that 'what's what' stuff is coming next post - I have gobs of homework to go finish, and work must come before blogging!
